Jayna

The Beginning

My name is Jayna Grassel and I started JJ Crochet in the summer of 2003 when I realized my yarn pile (or two or three or four) was slowly taking over my room and I was powerless to stop it.

I first learned to crochet from a woman at my church when I was eight years old. My amazing teacher passed away from cancer one year after we started our lessons, and from then on, I absorbed everything I could about crocheting, eventually teaching myself.

Now that I'm 18, I've had quite a few years of practice and still enjoy every minute I spend making something new! Each piece is unique in that it is handmade and there aren't more than a handful of them floating around the world, which is pretty cool when you stop and think about it.

The Future

Currently, I am majoring in Entrepreneurship (surprise, surprise!) at Grove City College in Pennsylvania while trying to convince my two roommates that we have plenty of room in our dorm for me to set up a JJCrocchet table in the corner. It doesn't need to be that big, guys ...

If you get a chance, shoot me an e-mail to let me know you were here or what you think about the site — I always love hearing from people. Email me at jjcrochet@gmail.com.

The Thanks

I'd like to give a few thanks for all the people in my life who have made JJCrochet possible: I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for my fabulous parents, without whose support I could not be doing what I'm doing today. Thanks to my mom for her constant encouragement, for always thinking of me, and giving me feedback on my products and my site. Special thanks to my dad for helping me with the work aspect of the business, and for always believing in me and supporting everything I do. Also thanks to my crochet critic and financial advisor, my 20-year old brother, Bill, and 13-year old sister, Anna.

Most importantly, though, all the talent that I have comes from God who blessed me with this gift in the first place. I am constantly striving to use my gifts for His glory and I am amazed when I think about what a great God He is.
